    VALHALLA CHAMPIONS


​Valhalla instructors have completed an extensive, instructor certification program. Beginning at the intermediate phase (Year 2-3 of training) and continuing on through black belt.


Those interested begin with an apprenticeship, warming-up classes and assisting beginners as interns.  After one-two years have elapsed, and they've attained a deeper level of technical understanding, they may become assistant instructors, teaching prescribed segments of classes under the direction of a Valhalla Instructor.


After they've earned their black belts and have completed the mandatory (3 year) instructor certification program, they may then take the Valhalla MMA instructor certification exam.


Valhalla MMA has instructors in Florida, Michigan and San Jose, Costa Rica.

Valhalla MMA, located in Port Charlotte, Florida, is a fiercely independent, family-owned gym and dojo. We specialize in both traditional and contemporary martial arts training in Boxing, Kickboxing, Jiu-Jitsu, and MMA. We promote combat sports at every level, local... regional... national... even global — and we don't just host events... we ignite them.

We welcome students/fighters from every system and style. Doesn’t matter your lineage, background, or affiliation... if you're about respect, hard work, and pushing limits, Valhalla is your home. We’re not here to play politics. We’re here to help you reach your martial arts goals and build warriors.

Now, let’s make something clear. We don’t recruit students or fighters from other academies/gyms. If you’re already training at another local gym, we won’t sign you up... no exceptions. We stand by that and show respect to the martial arts community by working with our local and surrounding area instructors and gyms... not against them.

We're big on collaboration. We frequently invite surrounding area gyms to join our open mat sessions... share the cage at our MMA events... and train together like a real tribe. At Valhalla, we don’t compete for egos... we compete to improve and evolve. 

We’ve dealt with enough “martial arts politics” to last a lifetime. The pecking order. The politics... That nonsense! We left it all behind. Our mission is to keep things real... forge strong bonds... and create a space where students and fighters can grow through discipline, hard work, and unity.

**Fight Promotion**

Valhalla MMA is committed to offering a high-quality and professionally organized platform for fighters to showcase their talents. We host exciting local MMA events every three months, offering invaluable experience in front of friends, family, and a live audience. Our promotions are sanctioned by the Florida State Athletic Commission, enabling us to invite fighters from local and surrounding area gyms/academies to compete fairly under the strict rules and safety regulations mandated by the state.

Participants in our events can engage in a variety of combat formats, including:

- Submission Grappling (Gi/No Gi)
- Combat Jiu-Jitsu
- Sport MMA (Ages 8-17, No head contact)
- Boxing
- Kickboxing/Muay Thai
- MMA

**Gym/Dojo**

Valhalla MMA was established in 1998, and we've been in the trenches ever since... training thousands of students, producing dangerous black belts, competent instructors, and throwing down at stacked MMA events for nearly 20 years, and building champions who’ve bled for titles at the state... regional... and international levels. We’re not a flashy franchise...  we’re a straight-up fight family.

Our black belts are the real deal. No gimmicks. No fast passes. Just years of grind, sacrifice, and discipline. If someone’s wearing that rank here, best believe they've earned it and every other belt along the way. We don’t hand out belts to boost enrollment numbers or to keep parents happy... we teach people how to fight. Period!

We’re not here to feed egos or inflate our student numbers. If you're looking for a black belt in 12 months or want your kid to collect belts and awards like baseball cards for just showing up... this, isn’t it. That mindset has no place here.

At Valhalla, every step up is earned with effort, sweat, and time on the mat. We teach discipline, self-respect, and how to actually defend yourself. That’s why people who train here don’t just walk different — they carry themselves with confidence that’s been built, not bought. And believe me, other people can sense it.

We’ve seen the drama... the gym beefs... the shady recruiting tactics. That’s not who we are. We don’t poach students. If you’re training at another gym, we won’t sign you up. No exceptions. Respect matters, and we show it to every instructor and academy around us.

Instead, we build bridges. We invite other schools in. We run open mats. We host events where everyone throws down together. That’s how a healthy martial arts community grows strong — not through ego, but through respect and shared purpose.
